Carnival in the Huasteca & the Gardens of Edward James (Saturday, February 6 – Monday, February 15, 2016) This tour presents multiple aspects of Carnival in the Huasteca region in the state of Hidalgo. In Nahua and Mestizo villages we’ll experience masked and unmasked dances and rituals which culminate on Ash Wednesday. Afterwards, we visit Xilitla, the incredible, surreal gardens of Edward James and the missions of the Sierra Gorda. This tour begins and ends in Mexico City and is limited to 8 participants. Domingo de Ramos y Semana Santa en Michoacán – Palm Sunday and Easter Week in Michoacán (Friday, March 18 – Sunday, March 27, 2016) This exciting tour presents the traditions, folk art and food of the most beautiful state in Mexico. The Tianguis Artesanal de Domingo de Ramos y Concurso (Palm Sunday folk art market and juried show) has been held for more than 50 years and is by far the largest concentration of Michoacán artisans. After 4 nights in Uruapan, we head to Patzcuaro and surrounding villages to enjoy the history, architecture, pre-Columbian ruins, food and Easter traditions. This tour is limited to 10 people.
